Lifestyle Worship in Marriage
Whether single or married, we must live devoted to the Lord.
Marriage is like a ship going out to sea. Anyone setting sail knows buffeting will come, sometimes externally and other times internally. . .
When we exchange marriage vows, we vow a lifetime of mutual commitment. Nowhere else on earth is there an agreement quite like marriage vows. These vows are binding, and that is why they are so serious. . .
An ideal marriage is, of all things, a love triangle. In one corner is the wife; in the other, her husband. At the apex of the triangle is God Himself. The closer our communion which is expressed in loving and abiding with God, the closer our communion with each other. Many marriages are already a triangle. God is not at the apex, however. Instead, the third party may be money. Or career(s). Or golf. Or another person.
Does this mean that every marital problem has a spiritual solution? Human relationships are not quite that simplistic.
It does mean, however, that if you and your mate allow lifestyle worship to permeate your marriage, you will save yourselves a lot of grief and anxiety and give yourselves a lot of joy and peace. And God will be glorified in you.

To honor God in all of our relationships, we must know what the Bible teaches and then obey.
So a man will leave his father and mother and be united with his wife, and the two will become one body. -Genesis 2:24
Love each other like brothers and sisters. Give each other more honor than you want for yourselves. -Romans 12:10
Yield to obey each other because you respect Christ. Wives, yield to your husbands, as you do to the Lord, because the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of the church. And He is the Savior of the body, which is the church. As the church yields to Christ, so you wives should yield to your husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it to make it belong to God. Christ used the word to make the word to make the church clean by washing it with water. He died so that He could give the church to Himself like a bride in all her beauty. He died so that the church could be pure and without fault, with no evil or sin or any other wrong thing in it. In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they love their own bodies. The man who loves his wife loves himself. NO one ever hates his own body, but feeds and takes care of it. And that is what Christ does for the church, because we are parts of His body. The Scripture says, "So a man will leave his father and mother and be untied wit his wife, and the two will become one body." -Ephesians 5:21-31
God has chosen you and made you His holy people. He loves you. So always do these things: Show mercy to others, be kind, humble, gentle, and patient. Get along with each other, and forgive each other. If someone does wrong to you, forgive that person because the Lord forgave you. Do all these things; but most important, love each other. Love is what holds you all together in perfect unity. . . Wives, yield to the authority of your husbands, because this is the right thing to do in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and be gentle with them. . . In all the work you are doing, work the best you can. Work as if you were doing it for the Lord not for people. -Colossians 3:12-14, 18-19, 23
Marriage should be honored by everyone, and husband and wife should keep their marriage pure. -Hebrews 13:4
In the same way, you wives should yield to your husbands. . . In the same way, you husbands should live with your wives in an understanding way, since they are weaker than you. But show them respect, because God gives them the same blessing He gives you - the grace that gives true life. Do this so that nothing will stop your prayers. -1 Peter 3:1, 7d
