Your Blessing in Christ

After looking at what our inheritance in Christ is, the kids and I looked at the blessing God has for us.

In Acts 3:1-4:4 we read that a lame man asked Peter and John for money. Peter told the man that he had neither silver or gold, but what he did have he would give. In the name of Jesus, he told the man to walk. The man was healed and began praising the Lord.

When the people acted surprised by what had taken place, Peter told them that the man had been healed in the name of Jesus; the One they had delivered and disowned to Pilate. Although they had put Jesus to death, God raised Him from the dead.

Peter told the people he wanted them to repent and return to God so their sins would be wiped away. He reminded them of the covenant that God made with Abraham, "In your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed." They were heirs of this covenant. When Jesus was raised from the dead, God sent Him first to the Jews to bless them by turning them from their wicked ways. We read in Acts 4:4 that many who heard the message believed.

In Galatians 3:5-14 we read that God had preached the Gospel to Abraham when He said, "All the nations will be blessed in you."

"The word gospel means 'good news', and it is the good news that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world to die on the cross to save sinners like you and me! Jesus died and was buried, but He rose again on the third day, never to die again." (D4Y)

Those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham the believer. This blessing comes to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus. Through faith, we receive the promise of the Spirit.

"God has given you the blessing of Abraham: the free gift of salvation. . . God sent His perfect Son, Jesus Christ, who never sinned, to hang on a cross and become sin for you and me so that we could receive His most precious blessing. And because Jesus paid for all our sins totally, God could raise Him from the dead. Then the blessing of Abraham could come to us when we believe, so that we could receive the promise of the Holy Spirit living in us." (D4Y)

"Have you received the blessing of Abraham? Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior? If you have, then your sin has been paid for, and you have eternal life. You have the blessing of the Holy Spirit living in you. . .You have been declared righteous just like Abraham. You are a part of God's family! You are God's child, and Jesus and the Holy Spirit will come to live in you (John 14:23)." (D4Y)

Once we have received the tremendous blessing of becoming a part of God's family, we should want to share it with others. I am a child of God! Are you?

If not, you can pray this prayer:

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. Jesus died to save sinners. Jesus died to save me. Come into my heart. Give me a new life. I will follow you all the days of my life. Amen.

Now you are a child of God as well! Celebrate your blessing and share it with others.
