To God Be The Glory

May 24, 2011

Had a bit of a frustrating morning. Dennis was scheduled for surgery at noon. We arrived at 10 a.m. The surgery before his took longer than expected and Dennis wasn’t taken back for surgery until about 2:40 this afternoon. Was told a little after 4 p.m. that they were closing him up and I spoke to the surgeon around 4:30. Dr. Pigazzi said everything went fine and Dennis should have no problems with recovery. Big sigh of relief! Sometimes things don’t always go according to plan, but I am grateful that I always have the hope of the Lord in all circumstances.

I was blessed to spend time waiting with my sister-in-law, Dyan, and brother-in-law, Dennis. They happened to be here for my brother-in-law. He recently found out he has stomach cancer and was referred here for treatment. It is comforting to know that God holds us in His hands and has a plan and purpose for all things that come into our lives. And regardless of the way God chooses to work things out in our lives, we have the hope of eternity with Christ. It is comforting to speak with others who understand this and to be able to encourage one another with this hope.

This was a big step toward the end of Dennis’ treatment. He will be in the hospital for 2-3 days. He’ll still need to take it easy for several weeks to allow his stomach muscle to heal fully, but I know he will just be happy to be done with his ostomy bag. Thank you for your prayers. Please keep his recovery in prayer!

“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.” These trials have come, the Scripture says, “so that your faith - of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire - may be proved genuine” (1 Peter 1:6,7). This genuine, refined by fire, holding-on-for-dear-life faith will result in praise and glory to Christ.” -Nicole Johnson
