You Be You
Glory Days
Joshua 11-12
The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others (1 Corinthians 12:7, CEV).
Each of us. . . has a special way. . . This is you at your best. When you stand at the intersection of your skill and God's call, you are standing at the corner of the Promised Land and Glory Days. This is Canaan.
One command in the book of Joshua: know your territory and possess it. Joshua's first goal was to establish Israel in Canaan by taking the land, neutralizing the enemy armies and eliminating the kings. The inheritance was for everyone, but the assignments were individual.
Jesus distributes unique gifts also (Ephesians 4:7-8). Everybody gets a gift (1 Corinthians 12:7). Our inheritance is grace based and equal. But our assignments are tailor-made. Do you understand what God desires for you? (Galatians 6:4) You be you (1 Peter 4:11). Ability reveals destiny. Your skill set is your road map. What you do for a living should conform to your design. Find something you like to do, and do it so well that people pay you to do it. A promotion is a move toward your call. Don't let someone "promote" you out of your call. Don't occupy yourself with another person's assignment; stay focused on your own.
God's measuring stick measures how faithful you are with your own gifts. You are responsible for how you use it.
Do not be like the Hebrews who failed to drive out their enemies or who grew lazy and remained in the military camp. Don't make the same mistake. You are an heir with Christ of God's estate. He has placed his Spirit in your heart as a down payment. You must possess your gift. Receive what God so graciously gives. All that you need to enter your Promised Land is to walk by faith.
